G. and A. Hupe received an initial sample of this specimen in September 2001. After concluding that it was in fact a meteorite they purchased the rest of the specimen from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco 2 months later. It is believed that the NWA 1110 was recovered in Morocco. The total known weight is 118g.
For more information about the NWA 1110 (basaltic shergottite) visit the Meteoritical Bulletin Entry Here: http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php?code=17124
The NWA is classified as a Martian basaltic shergottite. Inclusions of chromite and glass are present. No fusion crust is present in specimens. Due to the mineral composition of this specimen it is highly possible that it is paired with the NWA 1068.
