The first Deport meteorite was found in 1944. It is estimated that the fall was near Red River, Texas. The total known weight is 15 kg. Deports are classified as coarse octahedrites IAB.

These particular Deports were recovered by McCartney Taylor after he rediscovered the Deport Strewnfield. The deports found shallow are stable, the Deports found deep have been treated with an electrolytic solution to remove chorides which vastly improves stability.

There is rumor that McCartney Taylor will be publishing a monograph on the Deport meteorite strewnfield sometime in 2013. There is already a monograph out on the Santa Lucia, Argentina Fall. Check the book section for both.
